PROFESSIONAL CAREER
  • Won the 2020 AIG Women’s British Open, becoming the first USC player to win a women’s major event. Considered a long shot to win.

  • Earned the spot in the Open thanks to a tie for ninth at the Marathon LPGA Classic, the second LPGA event following the almost 6-month long COVID hiatus (she got her berth because others in the field had dropped out due to COVID concerns). She was on the Symetra Tour after missing by one stroke a 2019 LPGA Tour card.

  • Following her shocking in at the Women’s British Open, Popov continued to stay sharp, making all seven LPGA cuts the rest of the season. She then opened the 2021 season making her first six cuts (before it ended at the 2021 U.S. Open) for an overall streak of 15 straight cuts made starting with the Marathon LPGA. That includes 10 top 25 finishes and 4 top 10s.

  • Prior to 2019, she had modest results in two seasons of LPGA play while battling physical ailments brought on by Lyme disease that hindered her play.
